WE'VE BEEN GOING TO GO TESTIFY REGARDING THE MOBILITY BILL.
AND SO FAR WE'VE DONE VERY WELL IN THE HOUSE.
IT'S GONE THROUGH ALL OF ITS COMMITTEES AND WILL SOON BE HEARD ON THE FLOOR.
AND WE HAVE ONE MORE COMMITTEE TO GET THROUGH AT THE SENATE.

IT PROVIDES CLARITY TO LEGISLATION THAT WAS WRITTEN A LITTLE WHILE AGO REGARDING UTILIZATION OF IMPACT FEES AND MOBILITY FEES, WITH THE PRIMARY GOAL OF MAKING IT SO THAT THOSE WHO WANT TO DEVELOP WITHIN THE CITY OF PALM BEACH GARDENS WILL ONLY BE BILLED ONCE, AS OPPOSED TO TWICE LIKE THEY ARE NOW.
SO, MAX, DO YOU HAVE ANYTHING YOU WANT TO ADD TO THAT? I THINK THANK YOU, MAYOR.

THE COMMITTEES WENT REALLY WELL.

I MEAN, IT'S VERY RARE THAT YOU HAVE CITIES AND DEVELOPERS ON THE SAME SIDE OF A BILL.
AND WHAT THIS DOES IS THE MAYOR SAID, WE'LL FIX IT SO THAT NO LONGER IN PALM BEACH COUNTY AND THROUGHOUT THE STATE, WILL DEVELOPERS HAVE TO PAY BOTH A COUNTY IMPACT FEE AND A CITY IMPACT FEE.
THEY'RE GOING TO PAY ONE FEE AND GO ON, AND THEN THE LEGISLATION LEAVES IT TO THE GOVERNMENTS TO FIGHT IT OUT AMONGST THEMSELVES AND COLLABORATE, HOPEFULLY, RATHER THAN FIGHT, BUT FIGHT.
UP UNTIL NOW, IT'S BEEN A STRUGGLE.
BUT HOPEFULLY WITH THIS LEGISLATION, IT WILL TRULY BE COLLABORATIVE AND IT WILL BE, AS THE MAYOR LIKES TO SAY, SHE LOVES TO USE THAT WORD AND IT'S THE TRUTH SO THAT WE CAN COLLABORATE WITH EACH OTHER AND DIVIDE THAT FEE SO THAT THE THE IMPROVEMENTS ACTUALLY GET BUILT AND FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC.

SO THIS IS OUR 17TH YEAR HOSTING THE EVENT, WHERE 100% OF THE PROCEEDS GO TO THE WEST PALM BEACH, VA RESOURCE CENTER TO ASSIST LOCAL VETERANS WHO ARE HOMELESS OR AT RISK OF HOMELESSNESS WITH ESSENTIAL DAILY LIFE NEEDS.
THE TOURNAMENT WAS A HUGE SUCCESS YET AGAIN THIS YEAR, AND ANOTHER SOLD OUT FIELD OF 144 PLAYERS.
BEFORE I CONTINUE, I WOULD LIKE TO INVITE THE VA'S CHIEF OF STAFF, DOCTOR WILLIAMS AND HOMELESS COORDINATOR KAREN ABBOTT, TO SAY A FEW WORDS ABOUT HOW THIS TOURNAMENT REALLY IMPACTS THEM IN A POSITIVE WAY.
OH, GOOD EVENING, MAYOR AND COUNCIL.
AND YEAR AFTER YEAR, I MUST CONFESS, THE MAYOR'S VETERANS GOLF CLASSIC IS MY FAVORITE EVENT, AND I HAVE THE PRIVILEGE OF BEING PART OF THIS FOR THE GREAT CAUSE AND TO GIVE A SECOND CHANCE TO OUR AMERICA'S HEROES.
AND I LOVE PLAYING IN IT EVERY YEAR WHEN I'M NOT DEPLOYED.
THIS YEAR IS EXTRA SPECIAL AS WE'VE SURPASSED LAST YEAR'S, NUMBER WITH THE LARGEST DONATION AMOUNT.
