THEN TALKING ABOUT SIGNAL STUFF AND INTELLIGENT TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS, FLASHING YELLOW LIGHT PROGRAMS. YOU'VE SEEN THAT IF YOU'VE DRIVEN AROUND A LITTLE BIT AND THEN THE LATEST AND GREATEST IN TERMS OF NEW TECHNOLOGY, ADAPTIVE TRAFFIC SIGNAL CONTROL DEVELOPMENT. SO THIS IS A BUSY SLIDE. AND I'M NOT GOING TO GO THROUGH ALL THE DETAIL. BUT IT GIVES YOU AN IDEA AND COLORS ALL THE UNIQUE THINGS THAT GO ALONG IN THIS CORRIDOR. NORTH LAKE THERE'S SEVERAL PROJECTS ONGOING IN TERMS OF WHAT'S HAPPENING THERE AND EXPANSION. THEN AS YOU GO WESTWARD ALONG NORTH LAKE TOWARDS SEMINOLE PRATT, THERE'S 2 OR 3 PROJECTS, EITHER DESIGN OR IN CONSTRUCTION PHASES. WE'VE GOT A PROJECT POTENTIAL ON COCONUT BOULEVARD THAT MIGHT HAPPEN, AND THEN WE'VE GOT A POTENTIAL FUTURE PROJECT IN TERMS OF EXTENDING SEMINOLE PRATT, WHERE IT CONNECTS ALONG AVENUE. THAT'S A FUTURE FUTURE PROJECT, OF COURSE. AND THEN WE'VE GOT STATE ROAD SEVEN AS A POTENTIAL PROJECT THAT IS IN THE COURTS WITH DOT. SO LOOKING AT SOME OF THE KEY PROJECTS ALONG NORTH LAKE SEMINOLE, PRATT WHITNEY UP UNTIL THE NORTH LAKE INTERSECTION, THAT PROJECT HAS ALREADY BEEN AWARDED. HOWEVER, WE'VE HAD SEVERAL CHALLENGES IN TERMS OF UTILITIES, LIKE A LOT OF, YOU KNOW, UNDERGROUND PROJECTS. AND WE'RE STILL ON, YOU KNOW, STILL WORKING THE PROJECT. IT'S ABOUT 2025, 2000, LATE 20, 25 OR 26 TO FINISH THAT PROJECT. BUT THAT WILL BASICALLY WIDEN THAT TO 2 TO 4 LANES ALONG THAT, ALONG THAT INTERSECTION. AND THEN AS YOU GO FROM SEMINOLE PRATT GOING EASTWARD, NORTH LAKES GOING TO HALL BOULEVARD, THAT'S ONE PROJECT THAT'S GOING TO SPAN FROM TWO LANES TO FOUR LANES. IT'S ABOUT 10 OR $12 MILLION PROJECT PERMITS ARE IN HAND WITH RESPECT TO BID ACTUALLY THIS MARCH ACTUALLY THIS MONTH TO DO THAT ONE. THEN ANOTHER PROJECT FUNDS CONNECTING FROM HALL BOULEVARD TO COCONUT. THAT'S GOING TO 2 TO 4 LANES. DESIGN IS COMPLETE. AND THEN AS YOU WELL KNOW, THE FROM COCONUT TO STATE ROAD SEVEN. THAT'S THE PROJECT TO WIDEN NORTH LAKE FROM 4 TO 6 LANES IS DONE BY, YOU KNOW, THE AVANIR CONTRACTOR. AND WE JUST WENT OUT THERE ACTUALLY A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO. AND THE CONTRACT EXPECT TO FINISH THIS SUMMER. SO SO A LOT OF WORK ONGOING. AND THEN ALSO NOT ON THIS SHEET IS PGA AND MILITARY TRAIL PROJECT IS ONGOING. WE SUSPENDED SOME OF THE WORK BECAUSE OF THE GOLF TOURNAMENT A LITTLE BIT, BUT THAT PROJECT ACTUALLY SCHEDULED TO GET THAT FINISHED BY END OF MARCH. WE'VE HAD SOME CHALLENGES WITH THE UTILITIES. IT'S ABOUT 1300. WHEN I SAY INTERSECTION, ANYWHERE YOU SEE AN INTERSECTION, THAT'S WHERE WE'RE TALKING ABOUT. AND THEN IT'S CONNECTED BY ALMOST 500 MILES OF FIBER OPTIC. AND SOME OF THE EXISTING ONES. WE WANT TO IMPLEMENT THAT BASICALLY COUNTYWIDE. WE NEED, YOU KNOW, TRYING TO GET SOME GRANTS FROM EITHER THE STATE OR OR FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO DO THAT, BUT IT ALLOWS BASICALLY, ESPECIALLY GOING THE LEFT TURN LANES WHEN THERE'S NO TRAFFIC AND THE OPPOSING TRAFFIC TO MOVE THAT TRAFFIC. AND SO WE'VE HAD VERY POSITIVE RESPONSE ON THE ONES THAT WE IMPLEMENTED. AND WE'RE LOOKING TO DO THAT FOR ANY NEW INTERSECTION. AND ALSO WE WANT TO RETROFIT SOME FUTURE ONES ONCE WE HAVE THE FUNDING. SO TALK ABOUT TRUFFLE SIGNAL OPERATIONS KIND OF GIVE YOU JUST A QUICK OVERVIEW IN TERMS OF HOW WE ARE ORGANIZED. THERE'S SEVERAL TYPES OF SIGNAL OPERATIONS THE TIME OF DAY. WE'RE BASICALLY BASED UPON THE TRAFFIC PATTERNS. WE KIND OF DO PRESET TIMES ON THAT. OTHER ONES CALLED ACTUATED YOU SEE ON THE TOP RIGHT ON THE SCREEN BASED UPON IF YOU, YOU KNOW, IN TERMS OF, IN TERMS OF SENSORS IN THE GROUND AND IS ACTIVATED BASED UPON THAT. THE MOST RECENT TECHNOLOGY IS CALLED ADAPTIVE TRAFFIC CONTROL SYSTEMS. AND IT'S NOT IT'S NOT IT'S BEEN EVOLVING ON THAT. AND WHAT IT DOES IS IT LOOKS AT THE EXISTING TRAFFIC AND THEN KIND OF MODIFIES THE SIGNALS TO BASICALLY THE EXISTING TRAFFIC. I SAID, OKAY, SO WHY DOES THIS THING GET THE HOLE? THIS ONE. OKAY. SO I GET THE WHOLE SLIDE HERE. AND THE KEY THING ABOUT THE ADAPTIVE CONTROL SYSTEM IS REALLY YOU GOT TO HAVE SENSORS THAT LOOK AT BASICALLY WHAT'S GOING ON. AND THEN WITH THAT SENSOR, THEN IT GOES INTO HOW IT BASICALLY ADAPTS TO DATA. ONE OF THE CHALLENGES THAT THE DETECTIONS OF IT IN THE PAST HAS NOT BEEN THAT GREAT. AND, AND BUT NOW THINGS ARE EVOLVING IN TERMS OF AI AND SOME OTHER THINGS. THEY'RE GOT THE LATEST AND GREATEST TECHNOLOGY. SO LOOKING AT WHERE WE'RE AT IN TERMS OF THIS NEW TECHNOLOGY THERE'S BEEN, YOU KNOW, AS YOU SEE, THE MAP ALL OVER THE PLACE IT'S NOT CHEAP TO INSTALL 55,000 PER LOCATION. AND THEN YOU'VE GOT THE ANNUAL MAINTENANCE IN ORDER TO DO THAT. AND SO WHAT'S HAPPENING BASICALLY, YOU KNOW, BASICALLY AROUND HERE IN TERMS OF OUR LOCATION BROWARD COUNTY ACTUALLY IS IMPLEMENTING SEVERAL ALONG THE CORRIDOR. WE HAD SEVERAL HERE IN THE PAST WITHIN THE LAST FOUR YEARS. AND THEN WE TOOK THEM OFFLINE. BUT WHAT WAS OCCURRING IS THAT THE SENSORS WERE FALLING, FAILING, AND THESE WERE PROPRIETARY SENSORS, AND THEY WEREN'T RESPOND FAST ENOUGH. AND ACTUALLY, THE TRAFFIC WAS GETTING WORSE. AND SO WE WENT BACK TO OUR NORMAL STANDARD TIMING TECHNOLOGY IN ORDER TO DO THAT. BUT NOW WE'RE GOING BACK LOOKING AT THE NEW VENDORS AND DOING SOME TEST CASES. ORANGE COUNTY, YOU CAN SEE THE NUMBER THERE IN TERMS OF WHAT'S GOING ON. AND SO INSYNC IS ONE THAT HAS SOME CHALLENGES THAT WE'RE LOOKING AT BUT THERE'S, THERE'S LIKE MULTIPLE VENDORS THAT, THAT ARE DEPLOYING. SO WHAT THERE WAS AN ARTICLE, I GUESS, RECENTLY THAT TALKED ABOUT NEW SIGNAL TECHNOLOGY, AND THAT'S WHY THIS QUESTION CAME UP. AND THAT'S WHY I'M HERE TONIGHT. WE ARE LOOKING AT, FROM THE COUNTY STANDPOINT, LOOKING AT THIS LOCATION OF HOOD ROAD USING LIKE A VENDOR THAT, THAT, THAT WANTS TO TEST IT. AND WE'RE LOOKING PROBABLY THIS SUMMER TO DO THAT. AND THE REASON WE CHOSE HOOD ROAD, IT WAS IT WASN'T A HIGH CAPACITY QUARTER. SO WE DIDN'T WANT IT TO, TO FAIL TO HAVE A LOT OF TRAFFIC CHALLENGES, BUT IT ALSO HAS THE RAILROAD CROSSING. SO WE CAN WORK WITH THAT PIECE OF THAT. AND THE THING ABOUT THE SENSORS THE THE SOFTWARE IS COMPATIBLE WITH OUR EXISTING TRAFFIC CENTER. AND SO THAT'S WHY WE CHOSE THAT. ALSO, BESIDES THIS LOCATION, DOT IS LOOKING TO ANOTHER LOCATION ALONG MARTIN LUTHER KING BOULEVARD. THEY HAVEN'T PICKED OUT THE VENDOR YET. THEY'RE LOOKING TO DO THAT SUMMER, THAT LOCATION. AND THEN THERE'S A POTENTIAL OPPORTUNITY WITH DOT, OR ACTUALLY, US RELATED IS LOOKING AT GETTING A STATE GRANT TO DO IT DOWN 95 BASICALLY 95 ON OKEECHOBEE. BEFORE I GET STARTED, THOUGH, I'D LIKE TO GET GIVE SOME KUDOS TO ALL OF THE CITY EMPLOYEES WHO PLAYED A ROLE IN THIS PROJECT FROM THE FINANCE DEPARTMENT, EXPEDITING PURCHASE ORDERS TO PUBLIC WORKS STAFF WHO HAD TO RUN OUT AND ADDRESS BROKEN PIPES BECAUSE THE CONTRACTORS CONSTANTLY BROKE THEM. THESE PROJECTS HAVE TRULY BEEN A TEAM EFFORT. TODD ENGEL AND COREY WILDER BOTH HAVE HAD KEY PARTS IN THESE IMPROVEMENTS. AND YOU'LL SEE TONIGHT. TODD MANAGED THE MAIN POOL REPLACEMENT AND SITE WORK, AND COREY WILDER MANAGED THE COMPETITION POOL RESURFACING PROJECT. THEY'RE OBVIOUSLY HERE FOR QUESTIONS IF IF NEED BE. [00:55:04] EVERY CITY DEPARTMENT HAD A HAND IN BRINGING THIS PROJECT TO FRUITION, THOUGH. WITH THAT SAID, I'LL MOVE ON WITH THE PRESENTATION. FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO AREN'T AWARE OF ITS LOCATION, THE CAMPUS IS AT THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF BURNS ROAD AND MILITARY TRAIL. THIS IS THE 2005 MASTER PLAN, WHICH SHOWS THE ELEMENTS ON THE SITE. AS OF ABOUT THREE YEARS AGO WHEN WE STARTED THE PROJECT. AS YOU CAN SEE, THE SITE WAS MAXED OUT WITH RECREATIONAL AMENITIES, SOME OF WHICH REACHED THEIR USEFUL LIFE. THE COMMUNITY CENTER AND LAKESIDE FACILITY WERE ORIGINALLY BUILT IN THE 1980S, AND HAVE BEEN RENOVATED AND SLOWLY PIECEMEALED OVER TIME. THIS POPULAR SITE HAS BEEN HEAVILY USED BY OUR RESIDENTS AND WAS IN NEED OF UPGRADING. SO HERE ARE SOME PHOTOS TAKEN PRIOR TO THE START OF THE PROJECT, WHICH ARE EXAMPLES OF HOW DATED A LOT OF THE ELEMENTS WERE INSIDE AND OUT OF THE FACILITY. YOU CAN SEE THE CHARLOTTE'S CIRCULAR WINDOW. THIS IS THE NEW SITE PLAN THAT WAS DEVELOPED TO BRING THE CAMPUS INTO A MODERN ERA. THE PLAN SHIFTS THE WEST ENTRANCE TO THE CAMPUS, LOCATED HERE SLIGHTLY EAST TO CREATE A SAFER ENTRANCE, ADDS A CONNECTOR ROAD BETWEEN LAKESIDE AND THE BURNS ROAD COMMUNITY CENTER, AS WELL AS ADDS MUCH NEEDED PARKING THROUGHOUT THE SITE. IT REPLACES A LOT OF THE 1980 PORTION OF THE COMMUNITY CENTER WITH A NEW RECREATIONAL SPACE, AND PROVIDES A COMPLETE OVERHAUL OF THE AQUATIC CENTER. OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL SLIDES, YOU'LL SEE THE CURRENT STATUS OF EACH ELEMENT MOVING FROM THE WEST SIDE OF THE PARCEL, WHICH IS ON YOUR LEFT TO THE EAST. STARTING WITH THE LAKESIDE FACILITY. THE PLAN ADDS A FORMAL LAWN AT THE ENTRANCE AS WELL AS ADDITIONAL PARKING. THIS IMAGE IS WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE TODAY. THE UNDERUTILIZED SHUFFLEBOARD AND BOCCE COURTS HAVE BEEN REMOVED TO MAKE WAY FOR THE CONNECTOR ROAD AND GREEN SPACE AND PARKING. MOVING TO THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF THE SITE. IS THE NEW CONNECTOR ROAD THAT IS CURRENTLY UNDER CONSTRUCTION. BURNS ROAD IS ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE SCREEN. WE COMPLETED THE UNDERGROUND UTILITIES LAST MONTH AND ARE NOW GRADING THE SITE, WHICH WILL BE FOLLOWED BY PAVING THE WEST ENTRANCE SHOWN HERE. IT WAS CLOSED THIS STARTING THIS WEEK AND WILL REMAIN CLOSED UNTIL THE END OF NEXT MONTH. THERE WILL ALSO BE INTERMITTENT LANE CLOSURES ALONG BURNS ROAD TO CONSTRUCT A NEW RIGHT TURN LANE INTO THE CAMPUS. THE COMPASSIONATE FRIENDS MEMORIAL GARDEN, SHOWN ON THE BOTTOM RIGHT, IS STILL ACCESSIBLE THROUGH THE LAKESIDE PARKING LOT AND WILL REMAIN OPEN DURING CONSTRUCTION. MOVING TO THE MIDDLE OF THE SITE. IS THE AQUATIC COMPLEX SHOWN HERE ON THE LEFT AND THE COMMUNITY CENTER ON THE RIGHT. AND HERE'S WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE TODAY. THE POOL IS OUTFITTED WITH TWO ROCK CLIMBING WALLS, A ONE METER DIVING BOARD, AND TWO WATER SLIDES. THESE ARE THE TWO SLIDES AND ROCK WALLS FROM GROUND LEVEL. TO SUPPORT ALL THREE POOLS IN NEW 7000 SQUARE FOOT FACILITY WAS ALSO COMPLETED LAST YEAR, WHICH CONTAINS A FIRST AID ROOM, STAFF OFFICES, WORKSTATIONS AND RESTROOMS. THE COMPETITION POOL IS ALSO HAD ALSO RECEIVED A FACELIFT LAST DECEMBER. THE CONCRETE DECK WAS RESURFACED, ADDITIONAL UMBRELLAS WERE ADDED, AND THE POOL ITSELF WAS RESURFACED. MOVING RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO THE COUPLE IS THE EXPANSION OF THE COMMUNITY CENTER. SO AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PHOTO, WE'VE STARTED INSTALLATION OF THE VERTICAL COLUMNS LAST WEEK. STEELWORK WILL CONTINUE UNTIL THE END OF APRIL. THE STEM WALL IS FORMED AND WILL BE POURED WITH CONCRETE ON FRIDAY. TOMORROW THE UNDERGROUND INFRASTRUCTURE IS ALMOST COMPLETE. SORRY. AND WE WERE GOING TO USE THE ECONOMIC PARCEL THE WAY IT WAS. AND THEY SIT KITTY CORNER TO ONE ANOTHER, SAY WEREN'T CONTIGUOUS. SO WITH SOME NEGOTIATING, WE FLIPPED THE ECONOMIC PARCEL JUST BELOW THE CITY PARK. NOW WE HAVE 75 ACRES OF CONTIGUOUS PROPERTY. SO HERE IS THE CURRENT APPROVED SITE PLAN FOR FIRE STATION SIX. HERE IS WHERE WE ARE TODAY. NOW, IT'S IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT WE TOOK THE DEED TO THAT PARCEL. I BELIEVE IT WAS DECEMBER 18TH OF 2024. THE LAST THING WE GOT TO DO IS CONNECT THIS PIPE TO THE LAKE, AND WE'RE COMPLETELY DONE WITH THE THE INFRASTRUCTURE OF THE DRAINAGE. WE STILL HAVE WATER AND SEWER TO GO, BUT WE'RE PRETTY FAR ALONG. THE 14.5 ACRE LAKE IS 80% DONE. WE'RE JUST FINISHING THE SOUTH SIDE OF THAT AND THAT LAKE WILL START TO COME UP. IT'S A VERY DEEP LAKE. IT WAS A PRETTY IMPRESSIVE TO SEE. WITH THAT.
